ProfileYuri Ogawa

Hello

Hello everyone, nice to meet you here.
My name is Yuri Ogawa, written as "友里 小川" in Japanese kanji.

"友" means friends, and "里" is the place where people are gathering in English My parents gave me this name so that I could spend time surrounded by many friends, just like friends gather in a village.

When deciding on the title for my own website, I wanted to choose my real name for it because I realized it included "YOGA'' letters in my name "Yuri OGAwa" . Yoga means "to connect", since I started practicing yoga in 2010, I'm sure like I've been able to live my life more easily, flowingly and smoothly than before.
Just as being water, I'll keep myself flowing whereever I go like a migratory bird, and see the worlds what is going on from here and now.

I would be very happy if you could get to know me through my experience in this precious world even a little bit through this page.

She started her own official website called“YuriOGAwa”in 2021 with speading of her wisdom while she is on abroad.

She is used to be a member of triathlon team, and good at swimming, and cycling. She also loves house, techno, hip hop and ambient music coming from her background of dancer in NYC.

She has been passionate about sharing all things she loved, impressed with things in her life time through whole activities, and try to make people shine as much as she can.

Philosophy

Growing up as the daughter of a teacher (my parents used to teach Literature, Language and Social Studies at school) passionate about education about human rights, I naturally became interested in learning about "How would be lived better?" and understanding people I spend together.

Thanks in part to my teacher I met when I was in junior high school, I had the opportunity to read various philosophy books from him.
I still clearly remember the first time I read ``Apology of Socrates'', and loved to study Philosophy at school all the time.

I surely understand that my interest for magilcal knowledge of philosophy catched up this path that I still follow, pursuieg the Truth as a yoga practioner.

I do appreciate all things that I have learned through philosophy with this vehicle (my body), and share giving awareness that I realized from my own practice... it is my purpose of yoga that makes me cultivate humility toward the others.

Jivamukti Yoga Teacher

I started to practice yoga in 2009 when I heard that my friend was going to try yoga, and I followed her. At that time, I was working my body so hard as a performer, so the only perpose that I do yoga was to stretch my body, and took classes once or twice a week lazily.

After experimenting my practice for a while, I met Jivamukti Yoga by chance when I was in New York in earnest in 2010. The first time I took it, I couldn't help saying "What was that?". I was very shocked what I received at the class, and realized that "I should keep doing this.". From then, my yoga journey as a Jivamukti Yoga practioner started, and I've been coming to go to the center every day.

After returning to Japan, I took RYT200 vinyasa teacher training in Japan and received workshops from famous teachers. But all motivated by the desire to learn more about yoga was for Jivamukti Yoga. I just wanted to be as a good practioner by practicing Jivamukti Yoga and really loved to practice from amazing teachers all over the world. I was sure I will be better than ever through this method, and already had a strong commitment for continuing it.

Thanks to an offer from my colleagues that I was working at gym in early 20's, I began to teach yoga there. I had no idea that I would do but students were very happy to take it from me than I expected, and I ended up teaching several classes with very popular at that time.
I was based in Kyoto to make living after moving from Mie prefecture, and still continued to teach dance, aerobic exercise, trampoline training and swimming that I'm good at. Interestrngly, my all teaching skills were so much better than before due to keep practicing Jivamukti Yoga, it's like refinement of my all life through practice, it derived wisdom for mature activities I already had. Everything flowed better than ever by getting the knowledge for integration.

It was inevitable that I took 300h Jivamukti Yoga teacher training after about 7 years of practicing in Costa Rica 2017, progressed to take JTAP program in Barcelona 2021, and became 800h Advacnced Certified Teacher in Berlin 2022.
Since then, I'm still be present to be blessed all things, and really appreciate them I've received in this life time.

The reason I love practicing and sharing Jivamukti Yoga is that because it is a method of perseption where people from various backgrounds can work together toward the same goal of yoga with aspirations. Jivamukti Yoga has five important tenets which are Ahimsa (non-violence), Bhakti (devotion), Dhyana (meditation), Nada (sound) and Shastra (scripture). I've met many Jivamukti Yoga practitioners all over the world, but everyone has a different point of view in them, and takes care of them in a different way.

If you have been practicing yoga for many years, you tend to become biased toward only one particular practice, such as only asana, only meditation, or only kirtan. Jivamukti Yoga covers all the important practices of yoga in a well-balanced way, and is open-minded enough to respect the individual path for practioners.

I'm really grateful to have this core, integrated, and like-minded community where I can deepen my yoga practice, and trying to share this beautiful, compassionate path with many people .

Dancer

Ever since I was a child, I loved moving my body while listening to any kinds of music.
Thanks to the influence of parents and relatives I had an opportunity to be with music, so I feel like I've become accustomed to a variety of songs, including Classical, Hip-hop, R&B and House/ Techno music. Dancing activity since in my elementary school was a necessity for me.

I've stayed in New York every Summer & Winter season, and went back and forth in my first 20's.
Thanks to the mentor I met there, I found my path as a dancer and fitness instructor in my life

If I hadn't done it, hadn't met him then, I wouldn't be where I am today. That's how important it is to remind why I am here now to tell you.

It's very very hard to express my self by saying like "I'm a ◯◯ person." because there are something that are completely opposite existing at the same time. I love beautiful, shiny things but I do love dark topics. I do love sports and I know I'm active, but there are days when I don't even step out of my apartment. There are times when I'll be in wide and shallow, but sometimes I'm in deep and narrow. The cheerful side/ quiet side of mine coexsist, probably I'll be vanished to think too much seriously.
That's me, but hold on, I'm serious.

Holistic Health Coach

What does "being heathy" mean to you? I realized that although many people are interested in it in various places, still they don't know if they have its method that they needed.
This led me to start working as a health coach.

The best mindset for me in life is to "keep flowing", try to do anything without judgement and then keep creating action for my right path.
Dancing, drawing, jumping... what would I be today?
